What is Design Thinking Studio?

Design Thinking Studio is a temporal space that encourages DCoP members to explore design thinking processes. Design thinking can be used for solving problems that are complex, ill-defined and difficult to solve and is therefore particularly well-suited to help us think through challenges involving issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

How it works

DCoP member units at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities provide the content for the design challenges. Using a 5-step Design Thinking process of Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, DCoP members participate in collaboration with these units to evolve creative solutions to address the challenges.

The School of Nursing, the College of Veterinary Medicine and the DCoP Assessment Committee have begun their participation in Design Thinking Studio by employing the “Empathy” phase of the design thinking process to identify issues and evolve ideas to advance the work of equity, diversity, and inclusion in their units.
